LAKEWOOD, N.J. — The Rutgers University-Newark men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2026 season Friday at the GCU Jersey Pines Challenge at Ocean County Park.

Women

The Scarlet Raiders placed sixth in the women's 4K with 154 points.

Daisy Lopez led Rutgers-Newark with a 30th-place finish in 19:59.1. Jillian Joseph followed in 35th at 22:12.3, while Arianna Allen placed 41st in 24:51.1 and Justine Joseph finished 42nd at 25:01.6.

Men

The Scarlet Raiders finished eighth in the men's 6K with 175 points.

Amin Ayaan paced Rutgers-Newark in 32nd place with a time of 23:58.1. Kyle Rolffot finished 37th at 24:46.8, followed by Gonzales Delgado in 39th at 25:12.7.

Rutgers-Newark returns to action next weekend at the Back to the Bowl Invitational hosted by Stevens Institute of Technology.
