PROFILE OF THE WEEK (Dec. 18, 2010)
JUNIOR (2011-12): Left the team for personal reasons after starting the first two games of the season… she averaged 6.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals.
SOPHOMORE (2010-11): Started 24 of 26 games to help Scarlet Raiders to a 19-10 record and their first-ever NJAC Championship game appearance… averaged 8.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.4 steals per game… led team in assists (73), rebounds (194) and field goal percentage (47.1%) while ranking second in steals (63) and blocked shots (15)… notched a pair of double-doubles with eight double-digit scoring games and seven double-figure rebounding efforts… collected a least one rebound in every game while failing to hand out an assist just once… made 28.9% (13-45) of her 3-point tries… connected on 11 of 16 shots from the floor on her way to a career-high 25 points to go along with seven rebounds, six assists, three steals and a blocked shot in an 81-58 win over John Jay (1/10/11)… capped season with a career-high eight assists plus 13 rebounds and five steals in a 56-54 loss to Old Westbury (3/2/11) in the opening round of the ECAC Metro Championship… contributed eight points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals in the 54-51 upset of Kean (2/23/11) in the NJAC semifinals… totaled 18 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals in 65-60 overtime victory over Montclair State (2/12/11), scoring five points in overtime as the Raiders clinched an NJAC tournament berth in their final conference game of the regular season… netted 15 points with 10 rebounds, three assists, a blocked shot and a steal in 75-68 win over Drew (11/19/10) in the opening round of the UMass-Boston Tip-Off Tournament… followed with a dozen rebounds, seven points and five steals in 52-42 title game victory over UMass-Boston (11/20/10)… hit both 3-point tries on her way to 17 points, nine rebounds and four assists in a 70-60 win over Lehman (2/15/11)… tallied 15 points, nine rebounds and four steals in a 61-51 win over Ramapo (1/13/11)… piled up 11 points, nine rebounds, five steals and four assists in 24 minutes in an 84-47 win over CCNY (11/23/10).
FRESHMAN (2009-10): Bounced back from early-season knee injury to complete the season at the point guard slot… saw action in just nine games, earning eight starts… averaged 6.1 points and 4.9 rebounds while dishing off 28 assists and making 19 steals… paced team in assist (3.11) and steal (2.1) averages… was averaging 7.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.2 steals per game when she injured her knee early in a 61-58 loss to Catholic (11/22)… netted 10 points with five rebounds and four assists in her comeback game against New Jersey City (2/6), but the Raiders lost in overtime, 62-57… poured in a career-high 13 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, dished out four assists and had three steals in a 73-27 win over N.C. Wesleyan (11/21)… opened her career with a career-high five assists, five steals and seven rebounds in a 79-29 win over City Tech (11/15) in the John K. Adams Tip-Off Classic… in the JKA championship game, tallied 11 points, grabbed seven rebounds and distributed three assists in a 50-45 win over FDU-Florham (11/16)… made a career-high six steals to go along with four assists in a65-42 win over Purchase (2/13).
HIGH SCHOOL: Two-sport all-star in basketball and track & field at Clifton HS, earning four varsity letters in each sport… All-Passaic County basketball player for coach Tim Nellegar… set school records in the 100 and 200-meter dashes and was member of 4 x 400-meter, sprint medley and long jump relay teams which set school standards for the Mustangs… was a member of Clifton’s 4 x 400-meter championship unit at the Penn Relays.
PERSONAL: A summer knee injury kept her off the court as a true freshman… enrolled at R-N in the fall of 2008… lives with her aunt, Andreea Harry… her father, Chris Venning played basketball at Mansfield University (1983-86) where he still ranks third in scoring (1,624 points) and in steals (231) in their all-time records list… older brother Akim played basketball at Queens College.
