Biography

FRESHMAN (2012): Settled into the starting shortstop role while posting one of the most productive offensive rookie seasons in R-N history for the 16-23 Raiders… two-time NJAC Rookie Player of the Week… started the final 18 games of the season at short and 29 of her 36 starts were at that position… played in every game but one… led the squad with 40 hits, 31 runs scored, four triples, five home runs, 17 extra base hits, a .612 slugging percentage and 88 assists… ranked second on the squad in batting average (.345), doubles (8), on-base percentage (.402), walks (10) and steals (5 in as many tries)… hit safely in 25 games with 11 multiple-hit efforts… ranked sixth among all NJAC players in slugging percentage and tied for fifth in triples… helped turn six double plays while posting a .900 fielding percentage… produced both Raider runs and delivered the game-winning sixth inning solo home run in a 2-1 upset of William Paterson (4/14/12)… after belting a lead-off home run in a 6-1 loss, led Raiders to a 7-1 upset of Ramapo (4/21/12) by going two for four with three runs scored and a double… drove in three runs while going two for four with a double in an 8-0 win over Mount St. Vincent (3/21/12)… went two for four with a 2-run double and a triple in a 6-5 loss to Swarthmore (3/24/12)… went three for four with a pair of doubles and two RBIs in a 12-7 loss to DeSales (3/25/12)… hit a lead-off homer in the home first while going two for three with two runs scored and a stolen base in an 11-6 loss to Rowan (4/17/12)… belted a home run for her first collegiate hit while going two for three in a 12-1 loss to Eastern Mennonite (3/2)…went four for four with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in a 7-4 win over Washington College (3/2/12) while drawing a walk to reach base in all five of her plate appearances.

MEDICAL HARDSHIP SEASON (2011):  Starting shortstop before suffering a season-ending injury in the 11th game of the season… started in nine of 10 appearances… hit .393 with 11 hits, four RBIs and 11 runs… had a double, a triple and a home run to push her slugging percentage to .607… drew a walk to finish with a.414 on-base percentage… stole four bases in five attempts… committed four errors in 41 chances in the field while helping to turn two double plays… opened her career by going thee for four with a triple, two RBIs, three stolen bases and three runs scored in an 11-2 win over Marian (3/13/11)… went three for four with solo home run, two RBIs, a stolen base and four runs scored (including the game winning run in the eighth inning) in a 6-5 win over Dickinson (3/14/11)… went two for two with a double and two runs scored in a 14-12 loss to Otterbein (3/17/11).

HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year letterwinner on Notre Dame HS squad which reeled off three straight Colonial Valley Conference championships… honorable mention All-CVC as a freshman when Mighty Irish rolled to a state title… Trenton Times first team all-star and Trentonian second team pick as a sophomore when team claimed CVC and Mercer County titles… Honor Roll student who is a member of the French National Honor Society.

SUMMER LEAGUE: Helped Jersey Inferno to 2009 ASA State runner-up finish… played on Delaware Cobras Elite squad which took a state title in 2007… member of WJ Witches 23U team which claimed a South Jersey Division championship.

PERSONAL: Plans to major in business at R-N… daughter of Karen and Lou Sovak… has a younger brother (Matthew).
