PROFILE OF THE WEEK (April 22, 2011)

SENIOR (2012): Workhorse season with a 4.39 ERA and a 4-6 record in 12 appearances… started 11 games… worked 65-1/3 innings with 57 strikeouts against just 13 walks… hurled a complete-game 3-hit shutout against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (3/18/12), striking out three and walking just one in the 5-0 decision to earn NJAC and ECAC Metro Pitcher of the Week honors… posted a 6-inning win over Hampden-Sydney (3/13/12), allowing just four hits while striking out five and walking one in a 16-0 decision… got a win in a 4-2 victory over New Jersey City (4/1/12), striking out seven with no walks while scattering seven hits and allow one earned run in eight innings… scattered eight hits while allowing just one run and striking out six in seven innings for a 4-1 win over Montclair State (4/11/12).

JUNIOR (2011):  Workhorse starter who got off to a 6-0 beginning for the 23-19 Scarlet Raiders who shared the ECAC Metro Championship… third team All-NJCBA selection… NJAC Pitcher of the Week (3/20/11)… 2011 R-N Coaches Award for unselfish dedication to the team… went 7-2  with a 3.98 ERA in 72-1/3 innings… tied for second most wins in a season by a Raider pitcher – just one victory shy of Tom Reynolds’s 2006 standard of 8-2… struck out 54 while walking 40… hurled a complete-game, 4-hit shutout in a 4-0 win over Occidental (3/19/11) while striking out six against three walks… struck out 10 while giving up two hits and two walks in seven innings of work in a 12-2 win over Wesleyan (3/26/11).

SOPHOMORE (2010): Posted a 3-1 record with a 7.36 ERA… started in eight games with a pair of relief appearances… third on the staff with 47-2/3 innings… struck out 28 while walking 24… got the win in an 11-6 victory over Kean (4/10), going 5.0 innings with a career-high seven strikeouts against four hits and six walks while allowing three runs… went six innings to get the victory in a 6-4 win over Rutgers-Camden (4/3), giving up eight hits, two walks and four earned runs while striking out two… picked up a win against Cal Lutheran (3/19) despite giving up four home runs and two doubles in 4-2/3 innings in a 22-12 decision… worked six innings without a decision in an 8-7 win over Richard Stockton (5/1)… scattered seven hits while yielding three runs and two walks against four strikeouts in six innings of a key 8-7 win over Rowan (4/17).

FRESHMAN (2009): Posted a 2-0 record while appearing in six games… recorded nine strikeouts against 10 walks and 22 hits in 17 innings of work… started one game and had a 6.88 ERA… got the win with seven innings of starting duty in a 2-1 win over Staten Island (4.27) but striking out three while walking five and scattering six hits… opened the season by getting the win in 14-11 upset of Johns Hopkins (3/7) by going 2-1/3 innings… struck out two and allowed a walk and a single in a shutout inning of relief in a 16-9 win over Lehman (4/8)… pitched four innings in a 14-5 win over St. Joseph’s LI (4.17), giving up five hits and two walks against two strikeouts and no walks.

HIGH SCHOOL: All-area, All-Greater Middlesex Conference and All-Red Division as a senior at J.P. Stevens HS, helping team to a 19-7 record and a berth in the sectional semifinals... posted a 9-1 record with a 2.51 ERA in 2008 to earn third-team All-Group 4 honors... three-year letterwinner under coach Dave Marzano... honorable mention All-GMC as a junior… Hawks posted a three-year record of 47-31 and three consecutive winning seasons... two-sport athlete who lettered three times in basketball.

PERSONAL: Son of Martena and Thomas Medler... has one older brother, Kasey... criminal justice major.
