Former Scarlet Raider catcher Mike Marcucci is in his second year on the Rutgers-Newark baseball staff as an assistant coach. Marcucci will work with the catchers and will also serve as the bullpen coach.

Marcucci enjoyed a successful four-year career at Rutgers-Newark. He started 83 games as a designated hitter or behind the plate, hitting .263 with 36 runs scored and 49 runs batted in. He graduated in 2006 with a bachelor of science in criminal justice.

“I am very happy to have Mike return as part of the program,” Rizzi stated. “He was a tireless worker and handled the pitching staff very well. He will now use that experience to assist in the development of both the catchers and pitching staff. It is always special to have former players return.”

Marcucci, a native of Whitehouse Station and a graduate of Immaculata High School, currently resides in Livingston, NJ.
