Biography
SOPHOMORE (2010-11): Saw action in 19 games, getting starting assignments in all three ECAC Metro Championship tournament games for the 19-8 Scarlet Raiders… while filling in for injured starting center Hussein Abdelmaksoud in the ECAC Metro playoffs, he reeled off three straight 7-rebound performances while averaging 6.0 points per game as the Raiders made an unexpected run to the title game… erupted for 10 points, seven rebounds and four steals in a 92-86 win over John Jay (12/13/10)… in 69-54 ECAC Metro semifinal upset of NYU (3/5/11), hit all three of his field goal attempts, pulled down seven rebounds and made a steal.
FRESHMAN (2009-10): Saw action in nine games as a rookie… averaged 1.2 rebounds and netted five points in 26 minutes… opened his career by making his only field goal attempts plus one of two free throws for three points while grabbing two rebounds in an 89-52 win over Penn State Harrisburg (11/22/09)… hauled down three rebounds, blocked a shot and dropped in both free throw attempts in an 89-33 win over Berkeley College (12/15/09)… collected three rebounds in a 102-67 win over Medgar Evers (1/18/10)... dished out assists in win over Hiram (1/2/10) and Ramapo (1/27/10).
HIGH SCHOOL: A member of St. Anthony’s 32-0 squad in 2007-08 which won New Jersey Tournament of Champions title under legendary coach Bobby Hurley Sr. ... Friars finished 24-5 , reaching the Parochial B North semifinals during his senior season... received academic First Honors.
