Greg Moore poured in 22 of his career-high 24 points in the opening half as Rutgers-Newark shot its way past John Jay, 98-56, in The Golden Dome.

The Scarlet Raiders (6-3) shot 55.6% (40-72) from the floor to give Rutgers-Newark three consecutive games of shooting 55% or better as all but one Raider player scored in the runaway. John Jay (1-7) couldn't stay with the torrid Raiders who hit 10 of 20 shots from 3-point range.
Moore bettered his previous career high of 17 points in the opening half when he dropped in six of 11 attempts from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points. Junior guard
Micheal DeShields, who finished with 10 points and a pair of assists, made two of three 3-point tries in the opening period as Rutgers-Newark hit 10 of 19 attempts on its way to a 51-27 lead.
Raider senior forward
Deshawn Singleton muscled inside for 15 points, hitting seven of 12 shots, and added four rebounds, three steals, two assists and two blocked shots in just 18 minutes. Senior forward
Phil Barnes notched nine points and eight rebounds in 18 minutes while freshman guard
Al-Don Muhammad chalked up a game-high five assists. Senior guard
James Johnson added nine points, four rebounds and two steals.
The Bloodhounds were led by freshman forward Darryl Dennis with 17 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals while senior forward Vaughn Mason went six for seven from the free throw line on his way to 14 points. Junior forward Chris Jaeger tallied 10 points, nine rebounds and four assists for John Jay.
Rutgers-Newark hosts Berkeley College on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in a non-conference contest before breaking for the fall examination period and the holidays.
