RAIDERVISION GAME HIGHLIGHTS
Ruminska made nine of 15 from the floor – including three of seven from 3-point range – and dropped in 10 of 12 free throws to become the first Scarlet Raider player in seven seasons to reach the 30-point plateau. Junior guard
Ginger Quinones rained down 42 points in a win over Richard Stockton on February 8, 2003.
Senior forward
Courtney Vacca posted her fourth double-double of the season with 16 points and a dozen rebounds to go along with three assists and two steals as the Raiders (5-4, NJAC 1-1) broke open a tight game midway through the second half.
The Scarlet Raptors (2-5, NJAC 0-2) were paced by junior forward Karima Blackwell who had a double-double of her own with 10 points and a dozen rebounds while sophomore forward Brittany Turner came off the bench for a 19 points and five rebounds.
A layup by Raptor sophomore center Regina Ondah knotted the score at 32-32 with 15:54 left, but Vacca had eight points and Ruminska, five, during a 15-2 spurt which staked the Raiders to a 47-34 lead with 6:15 remaining.
Ruminska and sophomore guard
Jared Tactuk had 3-point jumpers to fuel an 11-0 Raider run which closed out the see-saw first half. After Ruminska had nine points to fuel an opening 15-3 Rutgers-Newark run, the Raptors answered with a 21-2 spurt which was capped by a pair of Turner free throws to give Rutgers-Camden a 24-17 edge with 3:59 left before halftime.
With sophomore guard
Samantha Grippo sitting out the game because of a concussion, Rutgers-Newark dressed just seven players. Tactuk and sophomore center
Tiffany Clarke chipped in six points apiece while freshman forward
Keira Williams came off the bench to supply eight rebounds, three points and two steals.
Vacca connected on 10 of 13 free throws to help the Raiders enjoy a 22-for-30 night at the charity stripe which helped negate a 21-3 deficit in bench scoring.
Rutgers-Newark travels to Baruch on Monday night for a non-conference doubleheader. The Raider and Bearcat women tip off at 5:30 p.m. before the men take the floor at 7:30.
