De'Vion Manning poured in a career-high 20 points as Rutgers-Newark rolled to an 86-65 non-conference win over York NY in Jamaica, Queens.

The Scarlet Raiders (5-3) shot 55% from the floor for the second straight game, hitting 33 of 60 field goals which included eight of 16 from beyond the arc, to overwhelm the Cardinals (4-5).
Manning hit eight of 10 shots from the floor, including three of four 3-point attempts, and added three steals and three assists. He eclipsed his previous career scoring best by five points.

Deshawn Singleton added 19 points apiece while senior point guard
Tim Smith chipped in 14 points, pulled down team-high seven rebounds and dished off a career-high seven assists. Johnson hit three of six 3-point jumpers and made seven of 11 field goal tries overall while Singleton made eight of 15 shots from the floor and all three of his free throw attempts.
Sophomore guard
Greg Moore added the other two 3-point baskets for the Raiders who had their second highest production from beyond the arc for the season while scoring over 80 points for the third time.
York senior guard Nick Hamilton-Lopez led all scorers with 23 points while junior center Marcel Esonwune dominated inside with 14 points, 13 rebounds and six blocked shots. Senior guard Ryan Exum added a dozen points and team highs of five assists and three steals for the Cardinals.
A jumper by Hamilton-Lopez trimmed the Raider led to 60-57 with 10:41 left, but Rutgers-Newark responded with a decisive 20-1 rally. Singleton had six points, Manning, five, and Smith and Johnson, four apiece, during the spurt. A Johnson steal and dunk followed by a Manning 3-point jumper capped the run which gave the Raiders an 80-58 lead with 6:11 left.
Manning had a dozen points and Johnson, 11, as Rutgers-Newark shot 58.1% from the floor, including seven of 12 from 3-point range, in the opening half to construct a46-39 lead. Manning had seven points during a 9-2 Raider run which followed the sixth tie of the period to stake Rutgers-Newark to a 37-30 lead with 3:16 left in the half. Rutgers-Newark never relinquished the lead.
Rutgers-Newark hosts John Jay in a non-conference doubleheader Saturday in The Golden Dome. The women tip off at 6 p.m. with the men to follow at 8 o'clock.
