NEWARK, NJ – Freshman Garfar Ayinde was the only Scarlet Raider to post a win as Rutgers-Newark fell to Ramapo, 8-1, in the first of a two-day, home-and-away doubleheader between the Scarlet Raiders and the Roadrunners.

Ayinde earned a 9-7 tie-breaker first-set win over sophomore Matt Cacciaguida before rolling to a 6-3 second set win to post the only Raider win on The Golden Dome Courts. 

Everyone other match went to the Roadrunners (8-9) in straight sets as the Scarlet Raiders saw their four-match win streak snapped.

Rutgers-Newark (5-4) is in Mahwah for a 5 p.m. match tomorrow to cap the 2009 season.
