NEWARK, NJ – Sophomore guard
Samantha Grippo had 13 points and five rebounds for Rutgers-Newark, but Richard Stockton held off late rally, 47-45, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference women's basketball game in The Golden Dome.

Freshman forward
Cathylee Philippe drained a baseline jumper from the left side to give the Scarlet Raiders their only lead of the second half at 45-44 with 54 seconds left.
But, sophomore center LaTonya Oliver hit a follow up jumper from the baseline to boost Richard Stockton into the lead at 46-44 lead with 30.3 seconds left, spoiling a Scarlet Raider (7-13, NJAC 2-7) rally. Oliver added an insurance free throw with 1.4 seconds left before missing the second to effectively end the contest. It was the only field goal of the night for Oliver, who finished with 13 rebounds and just five points.
Junior guard
Martyna Ruminska added 11 points, five rebounds and three steals for the Raiders while sophomore guard
Jared Tactuk chipped in eight points, six rebounds and a game-high five assists.
Freshman forward Cha-Na Thompson paced the Ospreys with 14 points, 13 rebounds, four steals and three assists.
The Raiders stayed in a three-way tie for third place in the NJAC's North Division with Ramapo and New Jersey with four league games remaining for each squad. It was the sixth straight conference loss for Rutgers-Newark.
Rutgers-Newark travels to Montclair State on Wednesday for an NJAC doubleheader. The women tip off at 6 p.m. with the men to follow at 8 o'clock.
