EWING, NJ – League-leading TCNJ rode a first-half scoring outburst to a 5-0 New Jersey Athletic Conference victory over Rutgers-Newark in the TCNJ Soccer Complex.

Liana Abreu, who entered the match as the NJAC's goals leader with 16, did not get a shot against the Lions.
The No. 16 ranked Lions (7-1-0, NJAC 5-0-0) tallied three goals in less than four and a half minutes beginning in the 15th minute to break open the contest against the Scarlet Raiders (3-9-0, NJAC 0-3-0). It marked the seventh straight shutout victory for TCNJ which has not yielded a goal since a 2-1 season-opening loss to Ithaca.

Victoria Nunez made two of her four saves in the first half as the Lions built up a 14-1 edge in shots to carry a 3-goal advantage into the locker room.
Senior midfielder Brittany McGinley notched her fifth and sixth goals of the season in the opening half – including the game winner – to pace the Lions who added pair of goals on seven shots in the second period.
Rutgers-Newark visits Drew University on Monday at 7 p.m. before hosting FDU-Florham at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday to complete its non-conference slate.
