Richard Stockton Snaps Scarlet Raiders' NJAC Streak At Two

GALLOWAY, NJ – League-leading Richard Stockton limited Rutgers-Newark to a dozen kills in a 3-0 New Jersey Athletic Conference win in the RSC Sports Center.  Set scores were 25-13, 25-13, 25-8.

Junior middle blocker Rachel Witt paced the Scarlet Raiders (4-15, NJAC 2-3) with four kills and two assisted blocks for 5.0 points against the Ospreys (17-5, NJAC 6-0).  Sophomore outside hitter Ula Nieznalska tallied 4.5 points on three kills, an ace and an assisted block while junior right side Stephanie Touzan chipped in three kills and a solo block.

Sophomore setter Jen Mendoza had two of the Raiders' four service aces and added 10 digs, but she registered a season-low 10 assists as the taller Ospreys pressured Rutgers-Newark into hitting a season-low -.173 (12 kills, 29 errors, 98 attacks).  Sophomore libero Paulina Walega came up with a team-high 11 digs.

Osprey junior middle hitter Stephanie Warner had seven kills with no errors on just 10 swings to hit .700 while dominating at the net with four solo blocks and three assisted blocks.  Senior outside hitter Christine Velott notched a match-high 11 kills with just one error on 23 swings while senior setter Laura Hausman made 22 assists.  Freshman libero Ashley Gubista had a match-high 18 digs.

Rutgers-Newark saw its 2-match NJAC winning streak snapped while Stockton remained the lone unbeaten team in conference play.

Rutgers-Newark hosts Rutgers-Camden in another NJAC contest on Thursday night at 7 in The Golden Dome Rec Gym.
