Staten Island Stops Scarlet Raiders Ahead Of The Storm

RUTGERS-NEWARK MEN'S TENNIS

Kevin Santos
NEWARK, NJ – Rutgers-Newark senior Kevin Santos and sophomore Raymond Postadan took the top-flight doubles, but the College of Staten Island claimed a 6-1, rain-shortened victory on The Golden Dome Courts.

BOX SCORE

Santos and Postadan ran their doubles record to 5-1 with their fourth straight victory, downing Joe Taranto and Masaru Takaki, 8-2, but the visiting Dolphins (10-4) controlled the other matches – except for two which were left unfinished when rain and wind ended play.

Santos and Takaki were tied at 5-5 in the first set on the No. 2 singles court while freshman Rob Ramirez was deadlocked with Gary Ambartsumov, 7-6 (7-5), 2-3, on the fourth flight.

The Raiders (2-6) suffered their fifth straight loss.

Rutgers-Newark plays its final home match of the season on Thursday at 4 p.m. against Western Connecticut State University.
