BRONX, NY -- Depth spelled the difference for Rutgers-Newark in a 5-4 win over Lehman College on the APEX Courts.

Freshman No. 5 singles player Alex Perez and No. 6 Nate Kijpatanasilp battled to wins at the bottom of the order to lift the Scarlet Raiders (2-1) to a win over the Lightning (1-4).

Perez edged sophomore Philip Akogu, 6-5, 7-5, while Kijpatanasilp stopped sophomore Marcos Coto-Batres, 6-4, 6-2, to give the Scarlet Raiders their second straight victory.

Sophomore top-flight player Raymond Postadan and senior No. 2 Kevin Santos gave Rutgers-Newark wins at the top and the duo upended Lehman's Raul Santana and Michael Tal, 8-5, in top-flight doubles play to provide the Raiders' only point from doubles.

Postadan rallied past Santana, 1-6, 6-4, 10-8 on the No. 1 singles court while Santos handled Tal, 6-2, 6-1.

Rutgers-Newark visits St. Joseph's LI on Monday at 7 p.m. on the St. John the Baptist High School Courts in West Islip, NY.
