Margeaux Hedley
NEWARK, NJ – Junior midfielder Margeaux Hedley netted Rutgers-Newark's lone goal as Montclair State powered its way to a 6-1 New Jersey Athletic Conference win on Alumni Field.

BOX SCORE & PLAY-BY-PLAY

Hedley headed in a long aerial pass from deep on the right side by senior forward Liana Abreu in the 75th minute for the Raiders' only tally.  Abreu's assist gave her 16 for her career, moving her into sole possession of second place behind Jenna Weiss (2001-03) who piled up 28.

MSU freshman forward Francesca Gibson wrapped her seventh and eighth goals of the season around what eventually proved to be the game winner by sophomore forward Stephanie Barbulescu who scored off of a cross from freshman forward Melanie Greco in the 11th minute.

With senior goalkeeper Danielle Griscom on the bench for a second straight game because of a concussion, senior Camelia Valentin and freshman Victoria Nunez filled in.  Each player turned in a half between the pipes with each coming up with a pair of saves.

The Red Hawks (5-4-0, NJAC 2-2-0) held a 4-0 lead at the half.  The Scarlet Raiders (3-8-0, NJAC 0-2-0) were out-shot, 22-9, with MSU controlling corner kicks, 5-1.

Senior midfielder Christina DeMartinis scored goals just 18 seconds apart in the 89th minute.
Freshman goalkeeper Gina Policastro had the Red Hawks' only save while getting the win by playing the first half.

Rutgers-Newark travels to The College of New Jersey on Saturday for a 1 p.m. NJAC match.
