Burgos, who notched his 1,000th career point in just two seasons with his final 3-point jumper in a 55-53 loss to Kean on Saturday, is the only repeater from last season's first unit. The junior college transfer is the first two-year player to net 1,000 at Rutgers-Newark. He averaged 19.2 points in his two seasons hitting 41% (182-444) of his 3-point attempts and 80% (136-170 of his free throws. He also has tallied 175 rebounds, 92 assists and 41 steals.
Garcia, who was named the NJAC Rookie of the Week five times this season, shares the rookie honor with Montclair State's Dwight Bostic. Garcia is averaging 11.0 points and 5.5 rebounds for the Raiders who are waiting to see if their season is extended by an invitation to the ECAC Metro Championship playoffs. The bids will go out on February 27.
