NEWARK, NJ – Rutgers-Newark notched a doubleheader split with Swarthmore on Alumni Field.

IN THE OPENER, junior third baseman Monica Liotto's 3-run, 2-out double to deep left field capped the decisive 4-run fourth inning and made a winner of sophomore right-hander Brianna Alicchio (4-1) who struck out two and walked just one while scattering seven hits.

IN GAME TWO, freshman shortstop Victoria Sovak rallied the Raiders to within a run with a triple and a run scored in the sixth and a 2-RBI double in the seventh, but Rutgers-Newark could not overcome a season-high seven errors.

Sophomore Liane Drastal (3-5) was the hard-luck loser who scattered six hits while yielding just three earned runs.  She struck out three and walked just one.
