STATEN ISLAND, NY – Short-handed Rutgers-Newark fell to the College of Staten Island, 4-3, on the CSI Tennis Courts.

Austin Gilker took singles wins against the Dolphins (5-7). Each team showed up with only five players and CSI edged the Rutgers-Newark on each of the top two doubles flights, 8-6, to take a 2
-0 lead into singles play.
Tejero split the first two sets with freshman Austin Kapetanakis before taking a 14-12 super-set decision on the No. 3 singles court.
Kim downed freshman Oscar Wu, 6-4, 6-2 on the fourth flight and Gilker rolled past Dmitriy Vituk, 6-0, 6-1 on the No. 5 court.
Rutgers-Newark is at Western Connecticut State on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. match before hosting Lehman College on Friday at 5 p.m. on The Golden Dome Courts.
