The two wins gave Rutgers-Newark its most wins in a season since the 2004 squad finished with a 17-22 record.  The Raiders have a chance to better that with a season-ending New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader at Richard Stockton on Saturday still to be played.  First pitch is set for 1 p.m.

IN THE OPENER, Spinella had an RBI double in the third inning and a game-winning 2-run single in the fifth inning as sophomore left-hander Brianna Alicchio (10-7) scattered nine hits while striking out two and walking just one to get the win.

Junior leftfielder Nicole Odell also notched two hits for the Raiders.

Freshman shortstop Victoria Sovak led off the first with a double to left center field and scored from second on a sacrifice bunt by sophomore AJ Affholter.  Odell had a lead-off single in the second inning and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of sophomore centerfielder Tori Santiago.

Affholter singled to lead off the sixth and scored on a 2-out single to left center field by Odell.

IN GAME TWO, the Raiders (16-21) were cruising in complete control entering the top of the final inning before the Bearcats (12-24) took advantage of four consecutive errors to post six runs on just two hits.  The tying run was stranded at second base.

Junior third baseman Monica Liotto went four for four and scored three times to pace the Raiders' 13-hit attack.  Spinella, who three for four with a triple, singled home what proved to be the game-winning run with two out in the sixth to give Rutgers-Newark a 10-3 lead.

Sophomore right-hander Liane Drastal (6-14) gave up just three earned runs in 6-1/3 innings, scattering 10 hits while striking out two and walking three before Alicchio came on with the bases loaded and the Raiders ahead by two.  Alicchio got her first save of the year by getting back-to-back fly ball outs after yielding an RBI single to Baruch second baseman Megan Ruiz.

Drastal was chased after Bearcat freshman rightfielder Courtney White ripped a 3-run double to left field.  White also swatted a 2-run double in the fourth inning to ignite a 3-run rally for Baruch.
