PONCE, PUERTO RICO – Former Rutgers-Newark guard
Pedro Burgos is playing professional basketball for the Leones de Ponce in Puerto Rico's BSN league.
The two-time first-team All-New Jersey Athletic Conference long-range shooting specialist recently joined the team which is currently 3-1 and tied for second place in the 10-team BSN.
Burgos was the first Scarlet Raider to net 1,000 points in a two-season career with 1,010 points by averaging 19.1 points per game. He poured in 185 3-point jumpers which ranks second all-time at Rutgers-Newark.
The 5-foot-11 shooting guard also was twice named to the NABC All-Atlantic squad. He was named the Rutgers-Newark Male Athlete of the Year in 2011 and 2012.
