NEWARK, NJ – Sophomore Youssef Rizk battled for a decisive win on the No. 4 singles court as Rutgers University-Newark edged Pratt Institute, 5-4, on The Golden Dome Courts.
 
The Scarlet Raiders (2-2) and the Cannoneers (0-1) split singles matches after Rutgers-Newark took two of three doubles contests.
 
Rizk needed a second-set tie-breaker to fend off sophomore Eli Eskenazi, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5), and join top-flight senior Raymond Postadan and freshman Stan Wu as singles winners for the Raiders.
 
Postadan rolled past junior John Imamoglu, 6-0, 6-3, while Wu swept freshman Brandon Spinosa, 6-0, 6-0, on the No. 6 court.
 
Postadan and senior Elijah Kim stopped Imamoglu and junior Andrew Barkett, 8-1, on the No. 1 doubles court while Wu and freshman Matt Palka defeated Spinosa and senior Moritz Petre by the same score on the third flight.
 
Rutgers-Newark hosts St. Joseph's College on Friday at 5 p.m. and Brooklyn College on Saturday at noon on The Golden Dome Courts.
