MAHWAH, NJ – Rutgers University-Newark senior
Raymond Postadan and freshman
Eison DeGuzman put up the best fights, but Ramapo College rolled to a 9-0 win in the GNAC Championship semifinals at the Ramapo Athletic Center.
BOX SCORE Postadan stretched senior Evan Clayton to three sets, falling 6-4, 4-6, 10-7, on the top-flight singles court while DeGuzman lost the opening set in a tie-breaker before getting swept in the second set on the No. 3 singles court.
Postadan and junior
Derence Tejero fell on the No. 1 court, 8-4, to Clayton and senior Justin Gerstl in the closest doubles decision as the Roadrunners (11-4) advanced to their second consecutive GNAC title match. Ramapo earned the conference crown in 2013.
The win gave the Ramapo a sweep of the teams' two meetings this spring. This was the Raiders' first season in the conference.
Rutgers-Newark (5-6) ends its season on Sunday at 1 p.m. with a non-conference match at FDU-Florham.
