NEWARK, N.J. (April 23, 2015) – Ramapo College defeated Rutgers-Newark by a score of 9-0 in the semifinals of the GNAC Tournament Thursday at New Jersey Institute of Technology after the move had to be moved indoors.
The loss ends the Scarlet Raiders' run at a conference title, but they will return to action with a home match against FDU-Florham on April 27 at 5 p.m.
Ramapo controlled the doubles play, earning an 8-2 win at No. 1, an 8-0 win at No. 2 and an 8-4 victory at No. 3. Senior

Eison DeGuzman fought hard at three but could not pull out the win.
The Roadrunners also swept the singles action, but Rutgers-Newark fought valiantly at No. 5 and No. 6. Newcomer Nadeem Hilal dropped a tight first set, 6-4, before falling 6-2 in the in the second, with DeGuzman dropping a 6-2 first, but nearly forcing a third set before falling 7-5.
Ramapo (14-2) advances to play Norwich for the conference title on Saturday. Rutgers-Newark drops to 6-4 on the season and sees its three-match winning streak snapped. The Scarlet Raiders have two more matches on the schedule.
