NEWARK, N.J. (January 17, 2017) – The Spring of 2017 semester is here, and what better way to kick things off than catch Rutgers University-Newark basketball in The Golden Dome?
 
Both the Scarlet Raider men's and women's basketball teams will be hosting New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) rival New Jersey City University Wednesday night in The Dome. The Scarlet Raider women will get things started at 6 p.m. vs the Gothic Knights and the men's squad will battle NJCU starting at 8 p.m.

The Scarlet Raider women bring an NJAC record of 3-6 into Wednesday's game, and are currently one game out of the NJAC playoff race behind William Paterson University (4-5). NJCU has yet to win a conference game, but the first meeting between the two sides was close with the Scarlet Raiders pocketing a 69-61 road win.
 
The R-N men will be hoping to snap a five-game skid and are also 3-6 in the conference. NJCU is 7-2 in league play and notched a 77-60 win over R-N back in November. The Scarlet Raiders are a much different team in mid-January and nearly toppled a tough TCNJ team in The Golden Dome last Wednesday night.
 
After the NJAC showdown with NJCU, Scarlet Raider hoops visits Montclair State University on Saturday before hosting back-to-back league foes – Kean University and Rutgers University-Camden – January 25th and 28th. 

Admission to all Rutgers-Newark basketball games is free for anyone with a valid Rutgers University-Newark ID.
