Highlights from Baruch Match
NEWARK, N.J. (March 25, 2017) – The Rutgers University-Newark men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 win Saturday morning over Pratt Institute in a non-conference match on The Golden Dome Courts.
The triumph is the first in Newark for the Scarlet Raiders who improve to 3-3 overall and return to action at the College of Staten Island Monday afternoon. The Cannoneers move to 1-1 on their young campaign.
Rutgers-Newark suffered an 8-1 loss to Baruch College Friday, but the Raiders played well against a strong opponent and were able to bounce back quickly.
"Yesterday's momentum carried over to today," said Head Coach
Tom Battaglia after the win. "Brandon (Davis) and Parth (Shah) had close singles matches that could have gone either way, but they excelled when we needed them to. I love the team's effort and it's great having the depth we do. We haven't rolled out the same lineup all year, and the guys are all contributing when given the chance."

Stan Wu clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win out of the fifth singles slot, giving Rutgers-Newark its fifth point of the match, and Martin cruised 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6. Fan rolled 6-2, 6-1 out of the second slot, and senior
Abhinav Dani experienced little resistance in a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 5.
The matches of the day came from Davis and Shah at first and third singles. Davis dropped the first set in his match 3-6, but came back to win a 7-6 (7-2), 10-5. Shah won 6-2, 6-7 (4-7), 11-9 in a thriller as the pair gave the Raiders a clean sweep in the match.
The Rutgers-Newark CSI match on March 27 is slated for a 3:30 p.m. start.
