NEWARK, N.J. (February 26, 2018) – The Rutgers University-Newark men's volleyball team will host a trio of important Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) contests this week inside The Golden Dome – Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.

The Scarlet Raiders come in to the week's action at 12-1 overall and 4-0 inside the CVC, having won 11-straight matches since a season-opening split in the annual Golden Dome Invitational.

"We have done a quality job to start the season," said Head Coach Pedro Trevino. "The winning streak is nice and we are getting better, but now is the time to elevate our play. All three of the teams we are going to see this week are very talented."

Rutgers-Newark welcomes Ramapo College to town Tuesday night, No. 7 Kean University Wednesday night and defending CVC champ Juniata College Saturday afternoon.

Both Kean and Juniata have been among the nation's elite teams over the last handful of years, and Ramapo always provides a stiff test for the Scarlet Raiders. Additionally, both Ramapo and Kean joined the CVC this year after playing in different league's so the results against those two teams (in addition to Juniata) will have an impact on postseason positioning.

"We need to play our game and limit mistakes," added Trevino. "If we can do that, while at the same time taking advantage of their missteps, I think we will be happy with the results."

As of Monday morning, the Scarlet Raiders are prominently featured in the national and CVC stat ranks. Newark leads the conference in hitting percentage (.304), winning percentage (.923) and opponent hitting percentage (.062), while sitting top-15 nationally in assists per set (No. 6; 11.84), digs per set (No. 14, 11.21), winning percentage (No. 4), kills per set (No. 4 , 12.74), hitting percentage (No. 4) and opponent hitting percentage (No. 2).

Individually, the Scarlet Raiders have boasted balance and depth across the board. Sophomore libero Jake Connors is No. 18 nationally and third in the CVC in digs per set (2.90), while senior Corey Pieper is 34th nationally and fifth in the CVC with a .324 hitting percentage. Piepers cracks the top-50 in kills per set (No. 48; 3.04) and points per set (No. 40; 3.65) as well.

Admission to The Golden Dome is FREE for anyone with a Rutgers University-Newark ID, and fans unable to get to The Dome can watch live at www.rutgersnewarkathletics.com/watch. Tuesday and Wednesday's matches are slated to start at 7 p.m., with Saturday's first serve set for 2 p.m.
