Corey Pieper of the Rutgers University-Newark men's volleyball team was named the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) Player of the Week, it was announced Monday afternoon by the league office.

Pieper led the Scarlet Raiders to a big-time five-set conference win over Eastern Mennonite University, putting down 23 kills and lifting 15 digs for a double-double. The performance against the Royals marked the third-straight match Pieper put down 23 kills or more.

He also pocketed 12 winners in a sweep of the College of Mount Saint Vincent, adding five digs in that match. He posted 4.4 kills per set and 2.5 digs per set in the two matches, hitting .281 and totaling 38 points.

Pieper is currently No. 4 in the CVC in kills per set (3.73) and is hitting an excellent .305 on the season.

Rutgers-Newark will look to push its winning streak to four matches Tuesday night when it visits conference foe Neumann University. The Scarlet Raiders have already clinched a spot in the CVC Tournament and will look to lock up at least a chance to host the first round this week. R-N is 16-4 overall and 6-2 in league play.
