PITMAN, N.J. (March 27, 2018) – Freshman shortstop
Jaclyn Arute of the Rutgers University-Newark softball team was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced Monday night by the league office.
Arute helped power the Scarlet Raiders to a 2-1 week, going 5-for-10 with a .700 slugging percentage. Arute notched a triple, two runs and an RBI, pocketing at least one hit in each of R-N's three contests.
In a win over Drew University to start the week, Arute went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, and in a doubleheader split against cross-river-rival New York University, the freshman went 3-for-6 with a run and successful sacrifice bunt.
Arute is currently leading Rutgers-Newark with a sky-high .526 batting average.
Rutgers-Newark is currently 10-3 and will visit Lehman College in a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon in the Bronx.
