#RUNMSOC Extend Their Unbeaten Streak To 12 Behind Sencion & Morales

NEWARK, NJ | Miguel Sencion and Erick Morales found the back of the net this evening in a 2-0 win over Wheaton College (Ill.) at Frederick Douglass Field. The win extends the men's unbeaten streak to 12 in a row and moves their record to 11-3-3, while Wheaton fell to 7-5-1.

The Scarlet Raiders were impressive on the offensive side tonight, testing Hasten Biddlecome with every opportunity. As a team, Rutgers-Newark tallied 20 shots with 13 finding the frame. The Scarlet Raiders also held a decisive edge in the corner kick statistic, collecting 11 to just one for Wheaton. Sencion continued his string of solid outings with six shots and a goal this evening while Franco Catania filed away five shots. Andres Medina wasn't called upon much tonight as he had to make just two saves.

Rutgers-Newark broke the 0-0 deadlock early in the first half, 11 minutes in to be exact, when Christian Nunez found the boot of Sencion to stamp his name in the scoresheet. Wheaton used a plethora of substitutes to keep their players fresh as the Scarlet Raiders were relentless with their attack.

In the second half, the Scarlet Raiders continued to pepper the net and eventually doubled their tally when Morales corraled a rebound and tucked it into the back of the net for the game's second tally. Rutgers-Newark would continue to threaten but was unable to add any more to their total.

They will return to action on Saturday, October 23 when they host Rutgers-Camden at 7:30 pm.
