Jackie Lara Named To NJAC Second Team

PITMAN, NJ | The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) announced their All-Conference squads with one member of the Rutgers University-Newark softball team making the list. First baseman/right-handed pitcher, Jackie Lara, was named to the NJAC All-Conference Second Team. 

Lara led the team with a .396 batting average this season while also batting in eight runs, also a team-high. She scattered 21 hits and scored four runs with a pair of doubles and a triple to her season ledger. Lara also helped her own cause in the circle.

In the circle, Lara pitched 48.1 innings and struck out a team-high 34 batters. She made eight starts, with five complete games, and finished the season with a 1-7 record while recording a 4.34 ERA. 

At first base, Lara excelled with 81 catches and 58 putouts and played clean softball all year long as she didn't commit an error.

Lara will return to the diamond next season and help the Scarlet Raiders make another NJAC Playoff push.
