Rutgers-Newark Women's Track & Field Shines at Oscar Moore Invitational

GLASSBORO, NJ | The Rutgers University-Newark women's track & field squad was led by Zrreyah Moore on the track at the Oscar Moore Invitational held at Rowan University.

Moore and Chidimma Igwe gave the Scarlet Raiders a one-two finish in the 100m dash this afternoon. Moore took the top spot with a time of 12.95 while Igwe was close behind with a time of 13.00. Pearl Oparebea finished in 7th (13.46) and Byra Byrd took 8th (13.78). Igwe and Moore took 7th and 8th, respectively in the 200m dash with times of 26.76 and 26.78.

Zahkyrah Carter, in her first event of the season, placed 7th in the 400m dash after crossing the finish line in 1:05.42.

Oparebea and Byrd took 3rd and 4th in the 400 hurdles with times of 1:13.89 and 1:16.23. Gayathri Narayanan continued the Scarlet Raider's outstanding day with a 3rd place finish in the 800m.

In the shot put, Oghenefejiro Akiri threw her way to a 2nd place finish with a distance of 12.24m while Shanil Auguste and Faith Remias took 6th (10.94m)and 8th(10.52m), respectively.
