Late Rally By Rutgers-Newark Comes Up Short Against Ramapo

MAHWAH, NJ | A late rally by the Scarlet Raiders wasn't enough as they dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game to Ramapo on the road this afternoon, 4-2.

Rutgers-Newark (12-15, 2-9) scattered four hits and committed two errors in the loss to the Roadrunners this afternoon. Chris Suleski led the way, going 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs while Lisandro Ulerio and Jamir Ramos added a hit each. On the bump, Daniel Reardon (2-3) pitched five innings and struckout five batters while allowing six hits.

Ramapo (12-17-1, 4-7) finished with eight hits to go along with two errors in the win. Christian Alonso led the Roadrunners with three hits and 2 RBIs.

The Roadrunners tallied 75% of their runs in the 2nd inning when they scored three runs on three hits. In the 4th, Ramapo added another before Rutgers-Newark made a late comeback attempt in the top of the 8th.

Ulerio took advantage of a fielding error to safely reach firest before Ramos singled to right field to put runners on 1st and 2nd. With two outs, Armando Alvarez was walked to load the bases for Suleski who took advantage with a 2 RBI double to left center. The rally would be cut short when a strikeout ended the inning. The Scarlet Raiders were unable to recreate the momentum from the inning prior as they fell just shy of the Roadrunners, 4-2.
