Men's Soccer Offense Stalls Against #6 Montclair

MONTCLAIR, NJ | The Rutgers University-Newark men's soccer team was held scoreless against #6 Montclair State University in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) action on Wednesday evening. 

Rutgers-Newark (4-7-3, 2-2-1) tallied eight shots in the loss while Montclair (11-1-1, 5-0) recorded 16 shots and five corner kicks. Jonah Dias and Ali Celik each recorded two shots for the Scarlet Raiders, putting one on target. 

The Scarlet Raiders struggled to get its offense going in the first half and was held to just one shot. Montclair, found its first tally of the game at the 7:32 mark before doubling its tally just 13 seconds later behind Amer Lukovic. As the opening stanza began to come to a close, the Red Hawks found another to go into the half up 3-0.

In the second half, the Scarlet Raiders were able to go on the offensive and take seven shots, but were unable to find the back of the net as they were held scoreless for the fourth time this season. 

Rutgers-Newark returns to action on Saturday, October 14 when they host Rutgers-Camden at 7:00 pm.
