Women's Basketball Can't Overcome First Half Woes Against William Paterson

WAYNE, NJ | Samiyah Horton led the Scarlet Raiders with 21 points but fell to William Paterson in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), 82-49. The Scarlet Raiders lost their 14th straight and fell to 3-20, 1-15 while William Paterson improved to 14-9, 9-7. 

Behind Horton, Ebony Odom Barnes tallied eight points while leading the team with five rebounds. Syncere Lambert was quick on defense and secured a team-high three steals. 

William Paterson used a 10-2 lead early in the first quarter to set the tone for the game as they would end the opening stanza with their highest output with a game-high 28 points. Odom Barnes cashed in on a jumper to bring the Scarlet Raiders within five, however, William Paterson quickly built their lead up to 16 before the end of the quarter. 

To start the second quarter the Scarlet Raiders looked primed to mount a comeback after a quick start. The Pioneers, however, had other plans and built their lead up to 23 halfway through the quarter. William Paterson held onto their lead into the locker room. 

In the second half, William Paterson limited the Scarlet Raiders' chances which allowed them to hang on to a crucial NJAC win.
