CAMDEN, NJ | The Rutgers University-Newark softball squad split a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) doubleheader, 4-1, 5-3, against Rutgers University-Camden. The split moved the Scarlet Raiders to 8-24, 2-12 while the Scarlet Raptors slid to 9-21, 6-8.

Game 1: Rutgers-Camden 4, Rutgers-Newark 1

The Scarlet Raiders used three hits to plate one run in the loss while Rutgers-Camden scattered 9 hits to scored four runs. Alex Di Martino finished the game 2-for-3 while Alison Miller picked up the other hit.

Rutgers-Camden opened the game with a run in the bottom of the 1st before Rutgers-Newark responded in the top of the 3rd. Alexis Claiborne crossed home via a wild pitch after moving over to 3rd in the same fashion. The Scarlet Raptors quickly regained the lead in the 4th with pair of runs and hled the Scarlet Raiders off of the scoreboard for the remainder of the game.

Game 2: Rutgers-Newark 5, Rutgers-Camden 3

Rutgers-Newark opened the game with two runs in the frame behind a 2 RBI single to left center by Tomaselli. Much like game one, Rutgers-Camden quickly responded to tie the game up at two.  The Scarlet Raiders' offense wouldn't stall in the second battle as they scored another two runs after Houseknecht belted her first career homerun over the centerfield wall to score McMillan.

The Scarlet Raptors cut into the Scarlet Raiders' lead with one run in the 4th before the Scarlet Raiders added one in the 6th to close out the game.
