Tomaselli Homers as Rutgers-Newark Softball Falls to TCNJ

NEWARK, NJ | Megan Tomaselli recorded a 3-run homer this afternoon, however, the Scarlet Raiders dropped both games to The College of New Jersey in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Frederick Douglass Field. The 9-1 and 13-3 losses dropped the Scarlet Raiders to 8-26, 2-14 while the Lions improved to 23-9, 13-3.

Game 1: TCNJ 9, Rutgers-Newark 1 (5 inn.)

The Scarlet Raiders used six hits to score one run while committing three errors on the field. Alex Di Martino finished 2-for-3 while Michelle McMillan went 1-for-3 and tallied the lone RBI of the game.

The College of NJ opened the game with eight runs after the Scarlet Raiders tallied two errors to keep the inning going. The Lions added a run in the 3rd before the Scarlet Raiders got their bats going in the 5th when Kayla Cardozo crossed the plate after reaching via a single. Rutgers-Newark nearly extended the game, however, Eliana Cedeno was tossed out at home to prevent the second run by the Scarlet Raiders.
