Alexis Sets School Record at the Tiger Season Opener

TOWSON, MD | Carmelle Alexis highlighted the Scarlet Raiders at the Tiger Season Opener held by Towson University with a new Rutgers-Newark School record in the 100m hurdles.

Carmelle Alexis set the school record in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.89 (5th), breaking the previous record of 15.98 set by Pearl Oparebea. Brya Byrd finished close behind in 6th with a time of 16.38. Sara Jaquez placed 33rd in the 100m with a time of 15.72.

In the 200m, Nadya Coleman (25th, 27.57) gave the Scarlet Raiders the highest finish in that event. Nydia Jackson (31st, 28.67) and Tara Vera (38th, 30.60) rounded out the racers for the Scarlet Raiders. In the field events, Shanil Auguste recorded a toss of 34.51m in the discus, good for 6th.
