Records Fall at the TCNJ Invite for the Women's Track & Field Team

EWING, NJ | The Rutgers-Newark women's track & field team set new records at the TCNJ Invite on Saturday afternoon.

In the 100m dash, Chandelle Lawrence placed 6th with a time of 13.94 while Tara Vera (12th, 14.90) and Sara Jaquez (22nd, 16.15) followed close behind. Zrreyah Moore took the top spot in the 200m with a time of 25.25 while Nadya Coleman (12th, 26.79) and Chidimma Igwe (22nd, 27.69) gave the Scarlet Raiders two more top-25 finishes. Nydia Jackson finished 19th in the 400m after crossing the finish line in 1:07.11.

Yumna Elsherif took 41st in the 800m with a time of 4:04.52. Carmelle Alexis broke her school record (15.89) in the 100m hurdles (5th) with a time of 15.61. Brya Byrd finished 3rd in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:09.27. The Rutgers-Newark record-setting day wasn't finished as the 4x100 relay team (Byrd, Coleman, Igwe, Moore) broke the school record (49.18) with a time of 48.47, good for first.

In the field events, Shanil Auguste had her highest finish of the afternoon in the shot put, recording a distance of 11.55m good for 6th.
