GALLOWAY, NJ | The Rutgers-Newark men's outdoor track & field team got off to a quality start at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships on Saturday afternoon.
Adam Abushanab finished 3rd in the 10,000m and broke the Rutgers-Newark record with a time of 32:01.60. In the 110m hurdles, Zachariah Muyingo took 13th with a time of 17.88. Diego Gomes topped the Scarlet Raiders in the 400m dash with a time of 52.87 while Cedric Augustin followed close behind, finishing in 53.61. Christopher Williams (20th, 54.79) and Nicholas Branco (23rd, 57.42) rounded out the even for Rutgers-Newark.
Andrew Mark finished 24th with a time of 12.12 in the 100m dash. In the field events, Timaul Williams earned the gold in the hammer throw, defeating his next closest opponent by nearly three meters, with a toss of 52.54m. Sean Deuer, in the same event, placed 17th with a throw of 37.72m. Azor Chareyre-Ramirez finished 15th in the javelin with a distance of 31.11m.
