PITMAN, NJ | The preseason coach's poll for the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) came out this Friday morning. Rutgers-Newark was voted to finish in the same spot as last season: 8th place, ahead of NJCU, who had a winless conference campaign.
2023 runner-up, Stockton University, took top spot with seven of the nine first place votes. Below them was Kean University, followed by this season's dark horse, William Paterson. Rowan University finished out the projected top four.
After their remarkable championship season, Ramapo College has been tabbed to have a down year, placing 7th in the coaches' predictions. Rounding out the list, Montclair State landed in 5th, with Rutgers-Camden just below them in 6th.
Scarlet Raiders' head coach Sovanny Kon will aim to prove the rest of the conference wrong in her second year in charge. She will lead a young Rutgers-Newark team in search of their first winning season since 2019, beginning with an August 31st matchup against Keystone College in La Plume, PA.
