LA PLUME, PA - Rutgers–Newark picked up a strong road win on Tuesday night, defeating Keystone College 77–53. The Scarlet Raiders established control early and used a dominant middle stretch to create separation, leading by as many as 24 in the second half.
Rutgers–Newark held a narrow 14–13 advantage after the opening quarter before locking in defensively and outscoring Keystone 19–6 in the second to take a 33–19 lead into halftime. The Scarlet Raiders continued to push the tempo after the break, putting up 23 points in the third quarter and maintaining steady offensive balance throughout the final period to close out the victory.
Quanajah Felder powered the offense with 23 points on 8-of-18 shooting while adding eight rebounds and two assists. Arlenny Medina delivered an efficient night as well, scoring 16 points on 7-of-10 from the field along with four rebounds and two steals. Rutgers–Newark finished the game shooting 39.5% and generated 40 points in the paint and 14 fast-break points.
Defensively, the Scarlet Raiders limited Keystone to 36.2% shooting and just 2-of-19 from three-point range. They capitalized on Keystones mistakes, securing 12 steals as a team and earning 30 points off turnovers.
Rutgers–Newark's will look to keep the ball rolling as they host York College (NY) tomrrow in their home opener at the Golden Dome.
