Camden, NJ — Rutgers–Newark fell behind early on Tuesday night and never fully recovered, dropping a 69–44 road matchup at Rutgers–Camden. The Scarlet Raiders struggled to find any offensive rhythm in the opening half, scoring just four points in the first quarter and nine in the second. The slow start created a deep hole, and Rutgers–Camden controlled the pace while taking a comfortable 33-13 lead into halftime.
Rutgers–Newark came out with new energy in the third quarter, finally breaking through with its most efficient stretch of the night. The Raiders shot 50 percent from the field in the period and knocked down three three-pointers. The trio of Sanaa Brodie, Raihanna Abdus-Salaam, and Quanajah Felder accounted for 22 of the 24 points in the quarter to trim the deficit down to 10.
But the comeback effort stalled in the fourth. Newark's offense went cold again, converting only two field goals in the final 10 minutes. Rutgers–Camden capitalized, rebuilding its lead and closing out the game with a strong finish to seal the win.
Brodie led Rutgers–Newark with 15 points, while Raihanna Abdus-Salaam added 13 points and eight rebounds. Despite the second-half push, the slow start and late scoring drought proved too much to overcome.
