Galloway, NJ — The Rutgers–Newark women's basketball team battled on the road Saturday afternoon but couldn't keep pace with Stockton University, falling 72–46 in NJAC action.
Rutgers–Newark opened the game strong, holding a 17–14 edge after the first quarter, but Stockton began to take control in the second. The Ospreys outscored the Scarlet Raiders 18–9 before halftime to take a 32–26 lead into the break.
Stockton continued to build momentum in the second half, extending the lead with a 19–10 third quarter and closing the game with a 21–10 advantage in the fourth to secure the win. The Scarlet Raiders committed 30 turnovers in the contest, which the Ospreys converted into 38 points, allowing the hosts to take control after halftime.
Nicole Timario led Rutgers–Newark with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including two three-pointers and Sanaa Brodie added 12 points and five rebounds for the Scarlet Raiders.
