Stockton Sweeps the Scarlet Raiders

GALLOWAY, NJ | Rutgers-Newark softball (8-14) again struggled on offense in a conference doubleheader as the Ospreys (15-9) took two wins at home.

Game 1: Stockton 17, Rutgers-Newark 0

Stockton was off the mark in the first inning. They scored four runs to quickly take a commanding lead. Then, in the second, they more than doubled their tally to make it 11-0.

The offense just never stopped for the Ospreys, as they plated three in the third and a pair in the fourth.

Meanwhile, Stockton pitcher Nerina Tramp was absolutely on fire. She blazed through five innings with only a single hit allowed, and seven strikeouts recorded in only 16 batters faced.

The game ended at 17-0 after five innings due to the run-ahead rule.

Game 2: Stockton 5, Rutgers-Newark 0

Game two had a much slower start. Scarlet Raiders' pitcher Charly Peter kept the Ospreys from taking off in the first two innings, but they scraped one run in the third.

Then, in the fourth innings, the home team brought around two more runners to extend their lead to three. In the next frame they grabbed another pair of runs to give themselves a cushion.

The Rutgers-Newark bats just could not get going. They clubbed five hits, including two from Maddy Haack, but nothing resulted in runners crossing home plate.

In the end, it was another shutout for Stockton, and a doubleheader sweep for their efforts.
