PITMAN, N.J. — Rutgers University–Newark freshman setter Duncan Sturt was named New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Rookie of the Week for men's volleyball following an impactful weekend performance on Jan. 17.
Sturt opened the week by running the offense with 32 assists in a straight-set victory over Ramapo, consistently setting the tone from the opening serve. In a tri-match, he followed with 27 assists in another sweep, this time against Mt. Aloysius, as the Scarlet Raiders controlled the match from start to finish. He closed the week with 29 assists and nine digs in a 3–1 setback against No. 12 Vassar, battling through four sets against a nationally ranked opponent.
For the week, Sturt totaled 88 assists while averaging 8.8 assists per set, helping guide Rutgers–Newark to a 2–1 record. He also contributed defensively with 13 digs across the three matches.
