NEWARK, NJ - Rutgers–Newark dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference matchup to Ramapo College, 73–48, on Wednesday night at the Golden Dome. The Roadrunners set the tone early, building a sizable first-quarter lead and controlling the tempo throughout the contest.
Ramapo opened the game with an 18–6 advantage after one quarter while Rutgers–Newark struggled to find consistency on the offensive end shooting 13% from the field in the opening quarter. The shooting woes continued in the 2nd as Ramapo carried momentum into halftime with a 39–14 lead.
The Scarlet Raiders showed improved energy coming out of the break and were able to generate better looks offensively coming out in the second half upping their shooting percentage to 40%. Despite the adjustment, the Roadrunners did not allow Rutgers-Newark to mount a comeback.
Arlenny Medina led Rutgers–Newark with 15 points and five assists, while Quanajah Felder added 14 points.
Rutgers–Newark will look to regroup and return to NJAC action in its next outing as the Scarlet Raiders travel to face off with The College of New Jersey this Saturday.
