Scarlet Raiders Sweep Drew for First CVC Win

MADISON, N.J. — The Rutgers–Newark Scarlet Raiders earned their first Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) win of the 2026 season Thursday night, sweeping the Drew University Rangers 3-0 inside Baldwin Gymnasium. The Scarlet Raiders set the tone early with a dominant 25-11 opening set before closing out the match with 25-22 and 25-19 victories to secure the straight-set triumph.

Rutgers-Newark's offense was both efficient and explosive throughout the night. Harry Takyi and Aleks Kolodziej each finished with 11 kills while hitting over .400, powering a balanced attack that kept Drew on its heels from start to finish. The Scarlet Raiders totaled 41 kills in the match and consistently applied pressure from the service line to control momentum in all three sets.

Setter Duncan Sturt directed the offense with precision, dishing out 33 assists while adding seven digs in a strong all-around performance.

With the milestone conference win secured, the Scarlet Raiders now turn their focus to a major road test as they travel next Wednesday to face No. 1 Springfield College Pride, the top-ranked team in the nation.
