Final Results
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Rutgers–Newark wrapped up competition at the NJAC Indoor Championships on Saturday, highlighted by a Fejiro Akiri's gold medal finish in the weight throw.
The Scarlet Raider men finished ninth overall with five team points, highlighted by a strong showing in the triple jump and a key relay finish. Kyle Rolffot competed in two distance events, placing 16th in the 800-meter run (2:07.02) and 13th in the mile (4:48.43). Carlos Gonzales Delgado added a 13th-place finish in the 3000-meter run (10:50.68).
In the field, Jaidyn Johnson delivered the team's top individual finish, placing eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.27 meters to score for Rutgers-Newark. Babacar Halsey followed with an 11th-place jump of 12.84 meters, while Azor Chareyre placed 18th in the shot put with a throw of 9.97 meters. The 4,000-meter distance medley relay team of Rolffot, Danial Cortez, Gonzales Delgado, and Matthew Marroquin secured additional points with a sixth-place finish in 12:05.03.
On the women's side, Rutgers-Newark placed eighth overall with 15 team points, powered by dominant performances in the throwing events. Chidimma Igwe placed 19th in the 200-meter dash (27.61), while Suhaylah Muhammed recorded an 11th-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 4.15 meters.
Fejiro Akiri led the way with an outstanding championship performance. She earned a fifth-place finish in the shot put with a season-best throw of 11.73 meters before capturing first place in the weight throw with a mark of 15.55 meters. The weight throw mark currently ranks 84th in NCAA Division III this season. Cherron Hacksaw also contributed with a 17th-place finish in the shot put (6.89 meters).
