NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Rutgers–Newark track & field teams competed at the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Indoor Championships held March 6–7 at The Armory.
The Scarlet Raider women finished tied for 40th place with four team points, while the men did not register a team score.
Senior Fejiro Akiri accounted for Rutgers–Newark's scoring performance, placing fifth in the women's weight throw with a mark of 16.56 meters, earning four team points in a highly competitive regional field. The mark now ranks 38th in NCAA Division III this season.
Akiri also competed in the women's shot put, finishing 12th overall with a throw of 12.02 meters.
On the men's side, freshman Jaidyn Johnson posted a strong performance in the triple jump, finishing 13th with a mark of 13.86 meters.
The men's 4x200 meter relay team of Ralph Atorkui, Shareek Prophet, Julian Tummings, and Jaidyn Johnson delivered a season-best performance, clocking a 1:34.32 to place 26th overall.
